Thanks for Visiting!

After over 30 years of life on this planet I've come up with a few ideas to a successful and happy life. Additionally 2009 was such a trying year I figured I'd spend 2010 proving and reminding how great life can be!!

More in line with my normal blogs I saw this photo taken of a volcano erupting in Iceland with a lightning storm happening inside of it and it just made me remember just how small we really are! Book of Shawn Rule# 98: Though we are all small pieces to the puzzle that is our world we are all interrelated to each other. Everything has a link to the next thing. Things like this that occur in nature should remind us just how big this world is and how much we have to learn from it. Witnessing awe-inspiring events like this is a credit to the grandious things that surround us and our lives on a daily basis. So, on the days when you might feel a little worthless or unimportant remember that we are part of a bigger idea capable of things like this picture!

Brilliant!

In a time of American Idol and all these other pop music shows I thought this made for the perfect little break from my normal postings to spread a little comedic light on just how simple pop music is. Enjoy!

Daily Affirmation

Book of Shawn Rule# 2105: It's important that we remind ourselves that anything's possible. This video is a great illustrater of that. As we get older and get bogged down by life and all the bad things that happen and disappointment we really do forget that it's up to us to make the best out of our day, our year, even our lives. Life is what you make it. If you believe you can do it, you can...it's that simple. Make the best out of things and you'll enjoy your life. A little mini-example of this in my own personal life just happened the other night and I participated in this idea without even realizing it. We bought tix to the Red Sox game for Friday night and ended up finding out it was going to rain. A lot of people decided not to go because of the weather but we decided to make the best of what could be a miserable night. Went to the game and had an awesome night. One of my most memorable sox games ever. So, today and everyday remember to do your own affirmation of what you want, how awesome you are, and what you bring to life!!

I can do anything

Once in awhile we need to be reminded that we are more capable of doing amazing and seemingly impossible things than we think. Today I reminded myself which fits well with my 2010 mission to make the best out of each day and get back to enjoying the little things. Today was an anything is possible when you put your mind to it" day. 4 days ago our washer broke and I knew nothing at all about washers. I called Sears and a couple of other companies and most of them said a minimum of $150 plus parts and labor and most of them came out around $225 when everything was said and done. Instead of just believing, "the man" and having someone else fix it I decided to start doing my own research on fixing it myself. Since then, I troubleshooted the problem in about 2 hours, ordered the parts, and just finished fixing it myself. Total cost for the repair to me: $35. And the best part is I did it right and it works again!! It feels good to do things on your own especially when you or anyone around you doesn't have the first clue. Solving our own problems and making the best out of things really is one of the most gratifying things we can do.

Book of Shawn Rule # 242: Do something that you normally wouldn't think you could do. It doesn't have to be fixing a washer but do something out of the ordinary. Trust me...the reward is worth it!

Absolutely Amazing

I love being reminded how far technology has come. It also keeps that kid inside of us believing our imagination can become reality. Never before in human history has there been more examples of technology bringing to life things we could only imagine as kids. Keep dreaming kids, and more importantly, adults. Creativity is the heart of humanity!!

To Funny & So True

Collateral Murder

This video is unbelievable. I fully support all our troops and all the hard work they are doing for us out there and the sacrifices they must be making but what these guys did is just inexcusable. I'm sure the stress winds them ridiculously tight but that doesn't give them an excuse to open fire on civilians. This is one time when I'm a fan of how far technology has come and the media's ability to get anything. Please share this video!! You can also view the full video at "www.collateralmurder.com" which includes details of the journalists that were killed.

Video Games

Found this great article on the evolution of video games since our generation was little from donkey kong to super mario bros and so forth and it just made me realize not only how far technology has come but how complicated our lives get as we get older. Those video games in their first form were simpler and from a simpler more innocent time and it really makes you realize how much you've grown as a person but also how much your eyes have become open to the real world. I miss those days of innocence and fun! It really is bittersweet that by the time you realize how innocent and simple your life was it's to late to enjoy it. I guess that's part of growing up but it still sucks!!
